Backend Engineer, Integrations & APIs

Stellar Development Foundation is hiring a Backend Engineer, Integrations & APIs to help build the infrastructure layer connecting a next-generation distributed systems platform to developers, wallets, partners, and external services. The role is part of a small, highly technical engineering team building a completely new high-performance platform from the ground up. You will own the public-facing API and integration layer, including JSON-RPC services, transaction lifecycle management, indexing systems, analytics pipelines, and developer-facing data services. The role involves designing scalable backend systems, building production-grade infrastructure for transaction tracking and status queries, implementing observability and analytics tooling, and supporting partner integrations and data pipelines. You will work directly with protocol architects and core systems engineers in a fast-moving environment focused on delivering reliable infrastructure capable of handling real-world financial value at scale.

Candidates should have strong backend or systems programming experience using Rust, C++, or both. Proven experience designing and building scalable RPC or API services capable of supporting high-traffic production workloads is required. Applicants should possess deep knowledge of database architecture, indexing strategies, query optimization, and distributed backend infrastructure. The ideal candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of production systems end-to-end and working across multiple infrastructure components to troubleshoot and improve platform reliability. Experience building or operating blockchain infrastructure such as nodes, RPC layers, indexers, or participating in testnet or mainnet launches is considered a strong advantage. Familiarity with observability platforms, analytics pipelines, and infrastructure monitoring tools is also beneficial.
