Backend Developer

Alfred & Victoria Associates, one of Nigeria's leading ICT solution companies, is hiring a Backend Developer to design, build, and scale the server-side logic, databases, and APIs powering WifiCombat's learning platform — a fast-growing EdTech and cybersecurity training system built for thousands of learners. You'll design and maintain RESTful/GraphQL APIs supporting student dashboards, lab interfaces, and assessment engines; manage database schemas for user progress, course content, and simulation results; implement authentication (JWT, OAuth2), RBAC, and data encryption; build scalable services handling concurrent lab sessions and asynchronous task queues; integrate payment gateways, LMS tools (LTI standards), and cloud-based lab orchestration systems; write unit and integration tests with Swagger/OpenAPI documentation; and set up logging, error tracking, and performance monitoring for high availability. The role includes a learning stipend, equipment budget, and performance bonuses.

3+ years of professional backend development experience, ideally in EdTech or high-traffic web apps. Strong proficiency in Node.js (TypeScript), Python (Django/Flask/FastAPI), or Go. Solid experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and familiarity with Redis or MongoDB. Proven RESTful API track record; GraphQL is a bonus. Git proficiency (GitHub/GitLab). Experience deploying on AWS, GCP, or Azure (EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3) with basic Docker knowledge. Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices. Nice-to-have: WebSockets/Socket.io, Kafka/RabbitMQ, LMS standards (SCORM, xAPI, LTI), Terraform/CloudFormation, and cybersecurity/networking knowledge.
