About the role
Koinly is one of the fastest-growing crypto tax platforms in the world. Our users are crypto-native, technically minded, and they live online — in X threads, Reddit discussions, Discord servers, and niche communities. We need someone who's already there.
We're looking for a Social Media & Community Manager who doesn't just post content but is part of the conversation. Someone who lives in internet culture, understands how crypto communities talk, and can become Koinly's voice on social. Not a scheduler. Not a broadcaster. A participant with a personality.
Role at a Glance:
The mission: Own Koinly's social media presence and community engagement. Be the voice of Koinly online, grow the audience, and make us genuinely present where our users spend their time
Team: Marketing
Report to: Content Lead
Location: Remote - Worldwide
Employment type: Full-time (contractor - B2B)
Experience level: Professional social media experience is a plus, but not required if you have a strong personal track record or a personal project
Perks: 32 days PTO, 100% async culture, flexible schedule, true autonomy
Social Media Ownership:
Own all social media channels: X/Twitter, Reddit, and any future platforms
Be the voice of Koinly on social — develop and own the persona (not corporate speak; sharp, opinionated, real)
Create, schedule, and publish all social content: posts, threads, commentary, insights, memes, carousels, quick graphics — producing without waiting for a designer
Repurpose content from blog, YouTube, product updates, and crypto news into native social formats, adapting for each platform
Coordinate with the Content Lead on brand voice alignment, without needing per-post approval — adapt the framework and run
Community Engagement:
Own community presence across all platforms: Reddit, X, forums, TG channels, Discord if relevant
This is the core of the role — not broadcasting, participating. You're in the replies, the threads, the Reddit comments, engaging in crypto and crypto tax conversations because you understand them
Monitor crypto and tax conversations and jump in when it makes sense; know when to engage and when to stay out
Respond to community questions, feedback, and complaints — be present, be human
React in real-time to fast-moving social moments (regulatory announcements, competitor moves, viral threads, meme moments) without waiting for approval
Manage the balance between planned/scheduled content and real-time reactive engagement instinctively
This Role Is a Fit If:
You're chronically online — living in internet culture, whether crypto, gaming, developer communities, or niche corners of the internet. You understand how conversations move, how memes spread, and how tone works online, and you have a point of view you're not afraid to share.
What we're looking for
The Must-Haves:
Live online — active on X, Reddit, or other communities in a personal capacity, with visible real engagement (not silence) on your profiles
Deeply immersed in crypto — understand DeFi, staking, on-chain activity, tax implications; ideally have filed crypto taxes yourself
Community builder, not broadcaster — can show examples of genuine community engagement (replies, threads, conversations), not just scheduled posts
Platform-native — understand that X is not LinkedIn is not Reddit; content feels native to each platform, not cross-posted
Creates content independently — text posts, threads, memes, quick graphics, carousels, using basic tools (Canva, Figma, etc.) without needing a designer
Personality-driven — comfortable being opinionated
Speed — can react in real-time without waiting for approval cycles
Comfortable operating autonomously in a remote, async environment — sets own content calendar, manages own engagement, comes with results and plans, not questions
Bonus Points:
Professional social media experience managing a brand account (a strong personal track record counts just as much)
Experience in crypto communities — being part of the conversation, not just posting about crypto
Experience growing a social account from scratch (brand or personal)
Comfortable with video content for social (short clips, stories, reactive video)
