About the role
Lendsqr is revolutionizing loan access across Africa by helping lenders launch digital lending at scale with the right technology, data, and services. Top digital lenders including Kredi Bank, Urgent10k, Irorun, and Sterling Bank depend on Lendsqr to power their lending systems. As a Backend Engineer on the Lendsqr Engineering team, you will be responsible for writing web services and APIs used by frontend and mobile application engineers. You will implement, test, deliver, and maintain product features both new and existing, create technical reports on feature implementations, research existing and new product features and areas of improvement, commit to secure coding practices and standards, and provide support for product features when needed. The key requirement for this role is a growth-oriented mindset and commitment to excellence. This role is remote but open only to candidates resident in Nigeria, and candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 2:1.
What we're looking for
3 or more years of experience performing similar backend engineering functions. Good knowledge of TypeScript for backend development with Node.js. Good working knowledge of Git. Good working knowledge of SQL query language, particularly MySQL — knowledge of ORMs is a plus. Good working knowledge of NoSQL databases, especially MongoDB — knowledge of ODMs is a plus. Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented, creative, resourceful, and quick to learn. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Open to Nigerian residents only with a minimum CGPA of 2:1.
